NWGH Hosts Successful Workshop on Dry Needling and Kinesio Taping for Musculoskeletal Health

The Physiotherapy Department at NWGH successfully held a one-day course on dry needling for effective trigger point management and kinesio taping for common musculoskeletal diseases and sports injuries on the 13th of June, 2024. The workshop’s facilitator was Dr. Syed Ali Hussain, PT, PhD (TUMS, Iran). Dr. Syed Ali holds numerous credentials, including PGD PE & TM (RIU), MS OMPT (RIU), BSPT RMC (UHS), MSK Sonotherapist (SONOSKILLS), Adjunct Professor (NIWE, Canada), and Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad.

The training provided attendees with valuable knowledge and practical skills in:

1. Dry Needling: A technique that uses slender needles to target trigger points for pain reduction.

2. Kinesio Taping: The application of specialised tape to treat musculoskeletal disorders and sports injuries, aimed at increasing circulation, strengthening muscles, and accelerating healing.

Through a combination of lectures and practical training, healthcare practitioners gained the necessary knowledge and skills to manage pain and improve patient outcomes.
