The global observance of World Food Day spanning 150 nations took place during the month of October with the fundamental aim of spotlighting the plight of communities and individuals lacking proper access to safe, nutritious food. This year, the Human Nutrition Department commemorated World Food Day under the theme “Water is Food, Water is Life – Leave No One Behind.”
The event that took place on the 28th of October, 2023 commenced with an impactful awareness walk, setting the tone for the day’s activities. Interns delivered compelling poster presentations, shedding light on the challenges associated with accessing clean, safe water while emphasising the critical importance of water to the human body. The presentations highlighted prevalent water wastage issues, drawing attention to the significance of water conservation.
Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman, the CEO of NWGH, delivered closing remarks, summarising the significance of the event and the importance of addressing water-related challenges in ensuring food security for all. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the enthusiastic participants, acknowledging their contributions to raising awareness about the crucial link between water, nutrition, and food security.
