NWGH celebrated World Environment Day on June 6th to raise awareness about environment safety and preservation among staff, students, and institutions. The event featured expert speeches and stalls displaying eco-friendly products, hosted by Ms. Fakhria Wahid, the OHS&E Officer at NWGH.
Dr. Zia Ur Rehman, CEO of NWGH, welcomed guests, emphasising the urgent need to stop unsustainable practices and protect the environment for future generations.
Mr. Mehran Hayat, Assistant Manager of OHS&E at NWGH, outlined the hospital’s initiatives for environmental sustainability. Dr. Zahid Rauf, Director of the Forest Products Research Division at PFI, highlighted the role of medicinal plants in healthcare.
Mr. Khurram Saeed, Coordinator of Biodiversity Conservation at WWF Pakistan, discussed climate change and its impact on biodiversity. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman, Advisor for the Higher Education Department (Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), elaborated on the threats to biodiversity and the declining water table due to unsustainable practices, calling for collective action to restore the planet.
