Third Session of the “World-Class Surgical Education Program”

On September 11, 2024, the Medical Professional Education Department (MPED) and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre hosted the third session of the e-workshop series, “World-Class Surgical Education Program.” This session was conducted in collaboration with prominent global institutions, including Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Stanford Medicine, Methodist Leading Medicine, The University of Chicago, Wake Forest School of Medicine, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, UCLA University of California, Johns Hopkins University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

The session focused on advanced surgical techniques with detailed presentations on “Subtalar Arthrodesis for Post-Traumatic Subtalar Arthritis” and “Left First Toe Amputation (Ray, Cadaver).” Attendees had the opportunity to view live or pre-recorded surgical procedures and engage in interactive discussions with their supervisors, which enriched their practical skills and knowledge.

The event concluded with a dynamic question-and-answer session led by Prof. Dr. Raja Irfan Qadir, ensuring that trainees gained a comprehensive understanding of the discussed techniques. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting significant improvements in their diagnostic abilities and preparedness for managing complex trauma cases.

Dean of MPED, Prof. Dr. Sidra Jabbar Khan, extended her heartfelt gratitude to the attendees for their enthusiastic participation and commitment. She underscored the importance of such educational programs in advancing surgical skills and fostering professional development.
