The Medical Professional Education Department (MPED) and Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre, successfully hosted the fourth session of its ongoing e-workshop series, “World-Class Surgical Education Program” on 12th Sep, 2024. This session, conducted in collaboration with globally renowned institutions including Harvard Medical School, Stanford Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School, brought a unique focus on enhancing surgical skills through live and pre-recorded demonstrations of critical procedures.
The workshop featured cadaveric demonstrations of Carpal Tunnel Release, Trigger Finger Release, DeQuervain’s Release, and Cubital Tunnel Release, which were highly valued for their practical application in clinical settings. The role and significance of using cadavers in surgical training were thoroughly discussed, emphasizing how these models contribute to advanced learning and patient safety in surgical practice.
A lively question-and-answer session followed the demonstrations, led by Prof. Dr. Raja Irfan Qadir, who engaged the audience in meaningful discussions. The workshop was well received by the Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs), Senior Registrars (SRs), Medical Officers (MOs), and House Officers (HOs) from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and allied fields.
Prof. Dr. Sidra Jabbar Khan, Dean, Medical Professional Education Department, praised the initiative, highlighting its critical role in advancing surgical education and fostering collaboration between TMOs and their supervisors. The next session in the series is anticipated with great enthusiasm as this program continues to enhance the learning experience for medical professionals at NWGH & RC.
