The Medical Professional Education Department (MPED), Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre (NWGH & RC) demonstrated its commitment to advancing medical education and enhancing patient care by organizing a series of American Heart Association (AHA) certified Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) workshops. Held from February 13 to February 15, 2024, the workshops, collectively referred to as ACLS (Batch-II), were tailored for Post Graduate Trainees (PGTs), Senior Residents (SRs), and Consultants.
The workshop covered the following key aspects:
• Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED.
• Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest.
• Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia.
• Airway management.
• Related pharmacology.
• Management of ACS and stroke.
• Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team.
Twelve medical professionals including two consultants, one associate professor, one assistant professor, six TMOs, one House officer, and one Nursing staff member from diverse departments such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Urology, Neurology, and Cardiology have completed the course successfully. Participant feedback indicates the ACLS workshops effectively met educational goals and improved clinical competency.
The completion of ACLS (Batch-II) workshops emphasizes NWGH & RC’s commitment to promoting ongoing learning and professional growth for its medical staff. In an era where medical institutions prioritize education and training, workshops such as these provide valuable chances for healthcare professionals to improve their clinical abilities. This, in turn, leads to enhanced patient care and outcomes.
