Welcome to the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Department at NWGH. Our esteemed department is led by Prof. Zahoor Ahmad, with Dr. Bahauddin Khan serving as Associate Professor. We are also privileged to have Prof. Niaz Ali and Assistant Prof. Imran Khalil as visiting consultants, supported by a team of efficient registrars. Our ICU and Critical Care Unit is renowned for being one of the best in the region.
Our department handles a comprehensive range of procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafts (both on and off-pump), valve surgeries, pericardectomies, aortic root replacements, and congenital cardiac surgeries. We also offer a full spectrum of general thoracic surgeries such as esophagectomy, chest wall reconstruction, lung surgery, and thymectomy, in addition to vascular surgeries. Our emergency services cover all three specialties 24/7.
We are committed to providing evidence-based treatment through regular multidisciplinary meetings. Our team has a strong research presence, with numerous publications in both national and international journals, and we frequently present at conferences.
Educational activities are a cornerstone of our department. We conduct journal clubs, clinical audits, and regular lectures. Our cardiac surgery training program is spearheaded by Prof. Niaz Ali, and we are excited to announce that a thoracic surgery training program will soon commence under the supervision of Dr. Bahauddin Khan.
At the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Department of NWGH, we strive for excellence in patient care, research, and education.
