Dr. Akbar Said Jan is working as Head of Anesthesia & Intensive Care Department at Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre, Peshawar. Dr. Akbar Said Jan is mainly involved in perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery, including Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.

Dr. Akbar Said Jan has a wealth of experience spanning over 32 years. He has worked as Registrar in Dewsbury District Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary in UK. Dr. Akbar Said Jan worked as Locum Consultant in Dewsbury District hospital as well. After returning back to Pakistan, Dr. Akbar Said Jan worked as Assistant Professor in Lady Reading Hospital and as Associate Professor in Hayatabad Medical Complex. Dr. Akbar Said Jan was Professor of Anesthesia at Hayatabad Medical Complex from 2002-2005 before settling into his current position at Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre.

Dr. Akbar Said Jan is a member of the Pakistan Society of Anesthesia (PSA).

After finishing his basic medical education, Dr. Akbar Said Jan went to the United Kingdom and Ireland for his specialist training in different hospitals. Dr. Akbar Said Jan attained his Fellow of the Faculty of Anesthetists of the Royal College of Surgeons (FFARCS) in Ireland .Dr. Akbar Said Jan also holds a Diploma in Anesthesiology from Punjab University, for which he was awarded a Distinction.
