The Medical Professional Education Department (MPED) at Northwest General Hospital (NWGH) in collaboration with the Institute of Public Health and Social Sciences (IPH&SS) at Khyber Medical University (KMU), organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) workshop on the “Management of Obesity” on April 17, 2024. This pivotal event was part of the 4th International Conference on Public Health 2024. The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Arshad Hussain, Key Speaker, Dr. Nizam Ud Din, Registrar Endocrinology, Dr. Ayesha Durrani, Endocrinology Trainee-fellow, and Miss Saba, Nutritionist. The primary aim was to equip attendees with a comprehensive understanding of obesity prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, emphasising interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative methodologies.
Distinguished attendees included Professor Dr. Tariq Khan Hashim, Chairman AHL, Professor Dr. Sidra Jabbar Khan, Dean MPED, Dr. Khalid Rehman, Director IPH&SS KMU, Dr. Abdul Jalil Khan, Head of Family Medicine KMU, and Dr. Muhammad Jawad, Lecturer of Public Health and Social Sciences KMU. Also present were consultants and registrars from various departments, including Prof. Dr. Aziz ur Rehman Consultant Urology, Prof. Dr. Asim, Consultant Pulmonology, Dr. Khatira, Consultant General Physician, and Dr. Tajdar Alam Khan, SR General Medicine, as well as postgraduate trainees and house officers.
The workshop concluded with a quiz for the postgraduate trainees and house officers, with diverse questions posed by the presenters. Following the session, CME certificates were distributed among the trainees by Prof. Dr. Tariq Hashim, Prof. Dr. Sidra Jabbar Khan, and Dr. Abdul Jalil Khan, marking the end of a highly informative and collaborative event.
