On August 22, 2024, the Medical Professional Education Department (MPED), in collaboration with the Department of Surgery and Allied at Northwest General Hospital & Research Center (NWGH & RC), conducted the advanced E-Series Workshop-II titled “Exploratory Laparotomy and Splenectomy for Ruptured Spleen Following Blunt Force Trauma.” This workshop was specifically designed for TMOs/PGTs.
Participants received an in-depth, step-by-step demonstration of how to perform an exploratory laparotomy and splenectomy, crucial procedures for managing a ruptured spleen caused by blunt force trauma. The session was led by Prof. Dr. Tariq Jabbar Khan, who also conducted a comprehensive question-and-answer segment to ensure the trainees thoroughly understood the techniques discussed.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting that the training significantly enhanced their diagnostic skills and preparedness for complex trauma cases. Dean MPED, Prof. Dr. Sidra Jabbar Khan, and MD of NWGH, Mr. Malik Abdul Awan Khan, commended the workshop for its exceptional educational value and its vital role in advancing the skills of healthcare professionals.
This workshop underscores NWGH & RC’s dedication to providing cutting-edge medical education and ensuring that healthcare professionals are well-prepared to handle complex trauma scenarios with expertise and confidence.
