Northwest General Hospital, in close collaboration with the City Traffic Police Peshawar, organized a “Road Safety Awareness Seminar” on Wednesday, 26th February 2025. The event aimed to educate participants on the significance of traffic rules and regulations while emphasizing their role in ensuring public safety.
The program commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem.
Malik Abul Latif Awan, Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Healthcare Private Limited (AHL), extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and participants. In his address, he underscored the importance of discipline in everyday life, stating that effective traffic management is fundamentally rooted in maintaining discipline. He encouraged students to actively participate in spreading awareness regarding the importance of following traffic rules and regulations.
Haroon Rashid Khan, Chief Traffic Police Officer Peshawar, provided a comprehensive briefing on the current traffic situation in the city. He highlighted the pressing need for mass awareness concerning road safety and urged students and youth to play a pivotal role in supporting the traffic police’s efforts to enforce traffic laws effectively.
Dr. Almas Fasih Khattak, Associate Director of Global Surgery and Associate Professor of Community Medicine, conducted an insightful presentation on the “Prevention of Traumatic Brain Injury.” She emphasized the critical importance of adhering to traffic rules while driving and traveling. Dr. Khattak warned that violations of traffic regulations could result in severe health consequences, including permanent disabilities. She strongly advocated for the mandatory use of helmets and seat belts as essential safety precautions to prevent life-threatening injuries.
A key highlight of the event was the successful completion of an on-site driving license issuance initiative. Facilitated by a mobile traffic police van stationed at the venue, this initiative provided an excellent opportunity for participants to obtain both learner’s and full driving licenses conveniently. Additionally, the City Traffic Police distributed volunteer traffic police jackets to students, symbolizing their role in promoting road safety awareness.
The seminar concluded on a high note, with participants gaining valuable insights into road safety, responsible driving practices, and the vital role of discipline in traffic management. The collaboration between Northwest General Hospital and the City Traffic Police Peshawar reinforced the shared commitment to fostering a culture of road safety and adherence to traffic laws.
